"That day, I realised with certainty that there is no such thing as perfection in motherhood. I realised that striving to look the part and trying to keep up with everything, adds nothing of value to our lives. In fact, striving for perfection sucks the happiness right out of us and has the potential to destroy the very things we value.
As mums, there is so much external pressure these days to 'look the part', to show the world that we're doing okay. Society tells us that we must bounce back from birth with a size 8 body. We must juggle motherhood with keeping a spotless house, returning to the workforce, looking like we stepped out of Vogue magazine - all with a smile on our face like everything is okay. The reality is, living that way is not viable. Or fulfilling. Or truthful."
